Farmers unite! We need to pull together to save the dams.

Alex McGregor expressed the concern we, as Inland NW agriculture, share regarding Representative Mike Simpson’s proposal for restoring wild salmon and steelhead to Idaho’s rivers – breaching the lower Snake River dams. Such a radical approach would cause great harm to farm families, towns, and cities dependent upon our rivers and to a special way of life and the remarkable farm families who feed people around the nation and the globe and are stewards of the land.barges2

Working together with sound science and rational thinking we can improve salmon runs and keep our farms and our region healthy, too. Dramatic “solutions” that would cause great hardships and achieve little need to give way to working together to achieve shared goals. Not easy – there are no “silver bullets” – but look at the progress already made. Inland NW farm families have reduced soil erosion dramatically – pushing 90% - through farmer ingenuity, volunteer incentive-based programs and by advances in agricultural research.

We encourage you to read the letter that we will be sending to Representative Simpson next week. If you are interested in adding your signature to the letter, please provide us your information by Wednesday, April 7th using the form linked below:
