TOMCO Seed has deep roots in dryland agriculture.  The Tompkins family began producing certified seed on their farm in northern Walla Walla County in 1976.  Not long after they moved the majority of their seed production to the Columbia Basin so they could more consistently produce high quality seed under irrigated conditions.  They gradually built a strong and loyal following and expanded the business to Walla Walla in 1992.

As their seed business grew and became increasingly more technical, the Tompkins family decided to align themselves with an organization with broader managerial and technical resources.  In 1997, the Tompkins family sold their seed business to the McGregor family.  Tomco Seed is now a division of The McGregor Company, though it is still very much a family business with members of the Tompkins family still involved in the business today.

Tomco Seed is one of the largest and fastest growing seed businesses in the Pacific Northwest.  Seed conditioning is still done at the main seed plant located at Clyde in northern Walla Walla County (pictured above).  Seed products are distributed to farmers at a growing number of McGregor locations and to many other certified seed dealers across the region.  The primary goal of Tomco Seed is (and will always be) to provide customers the best quality seed possible at a competitive price.
